Can't talk....eating....

Feather enjoying the eatin' of the greens.

A feast fit for the bunnies!
How to make the perfect salad...

Every night, the rabbits get a bowl full of greens. They all eagerly await their dinner salads. All the rabbits sit near their food dishes around 7:30pm. They know what time it is...eyes alert- ears forward..if they see me coming perhaps standing on hind legs. FEEDER PERSON!

Now I will admit we do spoil these bunnies but also maintain a good balanced diet for them.Along with fresh hay and pellets I've talked about their breakfast routine on other posts, but dinner-that's a whole new ballgame.

The perfect bunny salad starts with a nice helping of Romaine Lettuce. Then I usually follow it with a big helping of Green Leaf or Red Leaf Lettuce.I may throw in some Escarole and Collard Greens too..others I get from the Veggie Listsuggested by the House Rabbit Society There's enough variety that they don't usually shnub the greens.

Everything is washed and put in a salad spinner.I always top off the salad with some parsley, fresh green carrot tops and a small piece of carrot. Bam! Bunny Food!

All the bunnies have their own salad bowl.Oddly, only Twizzle will eat from the bowl..the other 3 prefer it if the greens are dumped out on their food mat so they can pick and choose how best to eat the salad.
Twizzle eats most of his in one sitting ("Rookie!",says Greyton.)
Feather and Greyton will space their dinner out - Princess loves to wait until we are trying to sleep then *CRUNCH**CRUNCH*MUNCH*

But by the morning the greens are gone and "When's breakfast?"
I usually tend to that after serving Mrs. Pratt coffee in bed. A ten year tradition the buns couldn't care less about.Juggling coffee cups with bunnies underfoot is quite an ordeal.Quite the feat of balance. I wonder if Cirque du Soleil is hiring?
Above posts have pics of splendiferous salad bowls and the Pratt Bunnies enjoying their bounty.

Greyton says:"#@*$! doctor..I am so outta here!"
Greyton goes to the Vet...

Everything is ok with Greyton...He is a very healthy big bunny and was officially weighed in at 8 pounds.Who had 8 pounds in the "how much does Thunderbunny weigh?"pool.
I came home at lunch time to find him all snoozy in the bathroom(he loves the cool floor)so bringing the pet carrier in there it would be easy to catch him. He was not happy.

When it was time to get him on the examining tablehe wouldn't come out of the carrier..so a slight incline was given until he slid out.Curse you Law of Gravity!

His exam went well.Teeth -fine- heart fine..bright eyed and bushy tailed..He has a little growth inside his ear that is very minor... a benign little extra piece of skin and it doesn't affect him.So we have healthy bunnies!

We got him home and he immediately ran back to his bathroom floor. He had his sullen look on hiis face and if he could talk I'm sure was calling me choice names.
He hopped around the living room a little while ago so I think he is over the trauma of going out in the outside world.

At least they didn't try to take his temperature!ZOINKS!

Great Googly Moogly...do I have some great tales from the YES show- however its late and I have to get up in about 5 hours so I'll just leave you with Things Overheard at the YES Concert and fill the rest of the story in later :

ACTUAL QUOTES from alleged humans overheard by me and Mrs. P.:

1. "I was sad when John Lennon and Elvis both died in 1977."

2. "When he (lead singer Jon Anderson)sings high he sounds just like Neil Young" "You know..that guy who sang "Southern Cross".

3. "OHMIGOD they sound just like the record."

and the granddaddy of ignorant YES concert quotes overheard by me:

"WHEN DO THEY PLAY 'NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN'?"

aaarrrggh.I need a vacation.

"There is no such thing in anyone's life as an unimportant day."-Alexander Woollcott

I was up early about 7:30am thanks to sounds of little bunnies running around. Feather was shredding newspaper- she loves doing that and when she dooes its a sign her health is improving. Princess was eating her willow basket nosily.
I heard Greyton flumping around downstairs and his nails on the kitchen floor-tappitytappity..So rousing out of bed I got all of them their breakfast carrot. Greyton and Twizzle hung out together all morning with minimal fuss.

Mrs. Pratt was a little bummed out because we cancelled our Long Island Lighthouse trip so we decided to do a day trip to New Jersey. First we went to North Wildwood where we saw the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse- Mrs. P. was certain it would be open - but it was not. They had some nice attached gardens we walked around and Mrs. P. was able to get some good photos.
It was about 2pm when we decided to spend the rest of the day in Atlantic City.
Casinos baby! We approached the main drag of A.C. and on giant video screens saw the visage of Donald Trump. The Donald owns several in Atlantic City and his regained fame from "The APPRENTICE" is evident. Gift shops sold "You're Fired" t- shirts and Official Apprentice Bottled water(????)
Oh well -we went to the Trump Taj Mahal and the Showboat- got a bite to eat and played slots...We were just sticking to the nickel slots -we didn't blow a lot of money - Mrs. P. put $10 in oone machine and was able to keep it going for about an hour and a half. All in all we dropped only $60. We only go to A.C. maybe twice a year. All the secondhand smoke in the casinos puts me minutes away from getting Coal Miner's lung. Its nice to do occasionally but not something I'd do all the time.

Speaking of bets- Smarty Jones the Philly horse did win the Kentucky Derby- Mrs. Pratt's prediction streak goes down in flames.
